A FAMILY-OWNED STEEL RECYCLING COMPANY
ERA Recycling is a Danish family-owned steel recycling company founded in 1996 by Egon and Ruth Alding. With more than 40 years of experience in the steel industry, Egon Alding built the company on strong relationships, reliable service, and a deep understanding of the European steel and recycling markets.
Today, ERA Recycling is led by the next generation of the Alding family, including Managing Director Anders Huang Alding. From our base in Denmark, we source, handle, and supply high-quality recycled steel and steel scrap to customers across Europe.
Our success is measured not only by the quantity of material we handle, but by the consistent quality of our products, services, and partnerships. As a family-owned company, our reputation is fundamental to everything we do. We build long-term relationships based on transparency, trust, reliability, and honest communication.

Our history
2026 – ERA becomes a Gold Member of BIR, Bureau of international Recycling.
2024 – ERA set up a warehouse in Sweden to meet the increasing Demand.
2022 – ERA is collaborating with top technical universities and labs in Denmark on a patented solution which aims to separate organics, steel, and tin, ushering in a new era of full-circle recycling.
2020 – ERA Recycling is titled “Gazelle” company of the year by the leading Danish business media Børsen
2019 – ERA Trading changes name to ERA Recycling and launches its #onetononetree program. And is titled “Gazelle” company of the year by the leading Danish business media Børsen.
- 2018 – ERA Trading is titled “Gazelle” company of the year by the leading Danish business media Børsen
2012 – ERA Trading becomes the preferred supplier for Scandinavian foundries.
2009 – ERA Trading starts trading in Asia.
- 2008 – ERA Trading becomes a member of BIR
2007 – ERA Trading is bought by Egon Aldings two sons, Anders Thaning Alding and Marc Thaning Alding
- 2000 – ERA Trading grows to be the biggest buyer of tinplate in Scandinavia
- 1999 – Hoogovens Steel BV merge with British Steel. The merge resulted in the Company Corus Group (now Tata Steel Group).
- 1997 – ERA Trading does its first bulk shipment
- 1996 – Egon Alding founded ERA trading after more than 3 decades in the steel industry
- 1980 – The Dutch Steel mill Hoogovens, buys Alex Dahl and Egon Alding continues as CEO
- 1978 – Egon Alding becomes sole owner of Alex Dahl
- 1965 – Egon Alding becomes part owner of Alex Dahl
