ERA Recycling, a Danish family-owned business founded in 1996 by Egon and Ruth Alding. Egon Alding boasts over 40 years of steel industry expertise. Today, under the leadership of his sons, including current director Anders Huang Alding, we’re dedicated to delivering prime recycled steel throughout Europe. Our success is measured by the quality of our services and products, not just their quantity.

ERA Recycling was founded June 21, 1996 by Egon and Ruth Alding. With more than 40 years of experience within the European steel manufacturing industry, the company was founded with the purpose of optimizing environmental recycling within our areas of expertise. ERA Recycling focuses only on environmental and ethical correct solutions, with the goal to implement this throughout the industry and amongst national as well as international politicians.
ERA Recycling works and cooperates with ISO certified companies in – and outside Denmark. These companies having the same vision to improve the European recycling program.
Our history
2022 –ERA is collaborating with top technical universities and labs in Denmark on a patented solution which aims to separate organics, steel, and tin, ushering in a new era of full-circle recycling.
2020 – ERA Trading is titled “Gazelle” company of the year by the leading Danish business media Børsen
2019 – ERA Trading is titled “Gazelle” company of the year by the leading Danish business media Børsen
- 2019 – ERA Trading changes name to ERA Recycling and launches its #onetononetree program
- 2018 – ERA Trading is titled “Gazelle” company of the year by the leading Danish business media Børsen
- 2009 – ERA Trading opens an office in Thailand, establishes partnerships in India and People’s Republic of China
- 2008 – ERA Trading becomes a member of BIR
- 2007 – ERA Trading is bought by Egon Aldings two sons, Anders Thaning Alding and Marc Thaning Alding
- 2000 – ERA Trading grows to be the biggest buyer of tinplate in Scandinavia
- 1999 – Hoogovens Steel BV merge with British Steel. The merge resulted in the Company Corus Group (now Tata Steel Group).
- 1997 – ERA Trading does its first bulk shipment
- 1996 – Egon Alding founded ERA trading after more than 3 decades in the steel industry
- 1980 – The Dutch Steel mill Hoogovens, buys Alex Dahl and Egon Alding continues as CEO
- 1978 – Egon Alding becomes sole owner of Alex Dahl
- 1965 – Egon Alding becomes part owner of Alex Dahl
- 1961 – Egon Alding is employed within the steel industry
